July 18th! Also known as Insurance Nerd Day! Woohoo! Happy Nerd Day to all my fellow insurance kooks! If I’m being 100% honest, I never saw myself in insurance. As a kid, I dreamt of being a cosmetologist, an agent for a famous athlete, or traveling on Broadway dancing my little heart out! But here I am! I still enjoy all of those things immensely, but my career trajectory took major twists and turns from how I imagined it.
2016 was the year I began my insurance nerd journey. From the intense classes and studying for my licensing exam, to taking countless hours of continuing education and carrier webinars, what started out as just a job has become a large part of my life! While I don’t wear my pants quite as high as Steve Erkel and speak in a high-pitched voice, Steve and the rest of us insurance agents are definitely considered experts in our field. Now, we aren’t just nerds because we’ve studied our craft for years. What makes up an insurance nerd you might ask?

We can’t drive through town without commenting on the structure of commercial buildings and the risks and liabilities that may be present.

When Limu the Emu and Flo come on the screen, we raise our fists and cheer! (Sort of, but there’s too much to dive into that now)

We talk about insurance at the dinner table with our family and friends even though no one has a clue what language we are speaking.

We get really excited when doughnuts are brought in.

We can have a 30-minute conversation purely on the definition of “you and yours” defined by the insurance carrier.

We have dreams about insurance claims.
The list is pretty much endless my friends, but if anything, it just proves, at least in my mind, that your agents care. No matter what is going on in our clients lives, we want what is best for you!
